PACE launches WEAVR 3.0 with built-in AI assistant as aviation braces for a training surge
Built-in assistant answers authoring questions and can draft training scenarios from existing material, aimed at instructors without XR development experience.
Berlin, Germany, 2 November 2026
PACE Aerospace & IT, a subsidiary of TXT e-solutions, has launched WEAVR 3.0, its extended reality (XR) training platform, adding artificial intelligence to the tool that training departments use to build immersive courses.
The update comes as aviation plans for a steep rise in training demand. Airbus' Global Services Forecast, published on 14 October, puts the need at 730,000 new maintenance technicians and 1.05 million new cabin crew by 2045.
Immersive training lets crew and technicians rehearse procedures that are costly and risky to practise on a real aircraft. For many training organisations the constraint is not the headset but the content. Turning a written procedure into an interactive 3D scenario takes skills that instructors rarely have, and learning an authoring tool takes time away from teaching.
WEAVR 3.0 uses AI to tackle that step in two ways. An AI assistant built into the platform answers questions about how to carry out a given task, so new authors find the next step without leaving the tool or searching documentation. The platform can also use artificial intelligence to draft a training sequence from material a department already has, such as a storyboard or a video of a procedure; the author then reviews, edits and approves each step. WEAVR 3.0 is available now with a 14-day trial.
WEAVR is already used in aviation. PACE works with aviation training providers on cabin crew training and provides airside and de-icing training content for airports. The platform runs in the cloud or on-premises, and courses can be loaded directly onto a headset where no network is available. The AI features currently run in the cloud on OpenAI models; from the first quarter of 2027, PACE plans to offer them on-premises and with other model providers, including open-source models, for organisations that need to keep training content on their own infrastructure.
"In aviation training, the headset stopped being the bottleneck some time ago," said Fabrizio Sillano, Head of Training Solutions XR & AI at PACE. "The bottleneck is the instructor who knows the de-icing procedure inside out but has never built a 3D scene. With 3.0 they can ask the platform how to do something and let it draft parts of the scenario. In entertainment, a draft that looks right is good enough. In aviation it has to be right, so the instructor checks every step and has the final say."
PACE will present WEAVR 3.0 to the public at Looking Glass, a live industry event taking place on 12 November 2026 at TXT's headquarter in Cologno Monzese, near Milan.
