Live View Extension

Successful operational efficiency management depends on a collaborative effort that involves the entire airline organization, with ground and flight staffs proactively seeking and attaining improvements in their spheres of practice. With Live View, we offer an easy-to-use EFB application which helps pilots take full ownership of the operational efficiency of their flights.

Reading data from the aircraft’s avionics buses (ARINC 429 and ARINC 717), Live View continuously checks the flown trajectory against the planned as well as the most cost-efficient trajectory (calculated for the current flight conditions with cost index application  Pacelab CI OPS).

Cost impact at a glance

Deviations from the reference trajectory are analyzed for their impact on fuel burn, arrival time and overall cost. The balance is displayed to the flight crew in real time in a number of easy-to-interpret formats:

  • Color-coded vertical flight profiles showing top of climb, flight levels, altitude steps, top of descent, etc.
  • Fuel deviometer showing the relative difference in terms of accumulated fuel burn as well as the specific range, that is, the distance travelled per unit of fuel consumed.
  • Data tables quantifying differences in trip fuel, on-block time, extra fuel at destination and total cost.

Increased awareness

Live View provides flight crews with instant, quantified economic feedback and raises their awareness for operational efficiency issues. The active involvement of pilots in operational efficiency management is encouraged even further if Live View is combined with the Trajectory Designer, which allows the evaluation of alternative trajectories for the remaining route to the destination.
